PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
NASA's 1969 Apollo 11 mission holds a place in world history as "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." This commemorative medal issued in honor of the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary is a replica of the sterling silver medallions minted by the Robbins Company, of Attleboro, MA, which were carried by astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. on the famed space voyage.
This 1 oz copper medal was struck by the Sunshine Mint. "APOLLO 11" is inscribed on the obverse, curving over an eagle holding an olive branch in its beak as it prepares to land on the moon's surface. On the reverse "ARMSTRONG-COLLINS-ALDRIN" and "50th ANNIVERSARY" surround the Apollo 11 mission dates, with "1969-2019" below.
